Welcome

Digital Health Innovation Group

The Digital Health Innovation Group formed to investigate technological solutions that can provide positive impact on health and well-being of individuals and our communities. Our group tackles challenging technical problems that is grounded at the juncture of engineering and health-sciences, with the ultimate goal of impacting lives through development of novel and transformative digital health technologies posed for successful clinical translation. Our primary focus is on design and development of wearables sensors and systems and AI solutions, with the objective of extracting actionable information for health. Digital health exemplify new paradigms for medicine that are always available, accessible and actionable. While there is a tremendous potential with continuous physiological and behavioral monitoring paradigms leading to early detection of disorders or more effective monitoring of therapeutics, the principal challenges are the form factor of wearable sensors that can assist in clinical decision support, predictive tools that can provide accurate insights on the trajectory of disorders, effectiveness of treatment or even the health status when adverse events are introduced. The future of precision health will rely on mechanistic AI models with prediction capabilities and the concept of digital twin that, on a personalized level, will provide equitable and accessible opportunities to promote and maximize health and well-being for all.

Our work spans from advanced sensor development to clinical validation. Our team has led numerous multi-institution projects and continues to work with national and international collaborators on impactful directions of digital health.
