Dr. Emmanuel Lujan is a Research Scientist at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, and a member of the Julia Lab. His research interests lie at the intersection of artificial intelligence, scientific simulation, and high-level high‑performance programming—with applications in computational linear algebra and materials science. He is co-leading a DARPA-DIAL initiative aimed at advancing AI-guided algorithmic discovery for fast linear algebra. As part of MIT’s Center for the Exascale Simulation of Materials in Extreme Environments, supported by the NNSA, he develops algorithms and tools to broaden the chemical diversity of machine-learning interatomic potentials and to reduce the computational burden of Density Functional Theory.
