FUTUR-IC, a National Science Foundation (NSF) Convergence Accelerator program, whose NSF Program Director, is Dr. Richard (Rick) Farnsworth PhD, PMP, is proud to announce that Luigi Ranno, a graduate student on this project, has been selected as one of the two awardees of the 2025 PSC Tingye Li Memorial Scholarship.

This prestigious scholarship honors the legacy of Dr. Tingye Li, a pioneer in optical communications, by recognizing outstanding graduate students in optics and photonics for their academic excellence and contributions to the scientific community.

Luigi Ranno was recognized for exceptional contributions to photonic sensor chips and high-efficiency surface-normal fiber-to-chip couplers, advancing key technologies in optical communication and sensing. This achievement highlights both technical excellence and a commitment to serving the scientific community, reflecting the values that Dr. Li championed throughout his career.

The PSC Tingye Li Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to up to two outstanding graduate students worldwide, selected based on academic achievements and service to the optics and photonics field.
