After another string of cloudy days, we again found ourselves with favorable weather predictions. Having worn ourselves out making the often hour plus trek to Poker Flat and back, we decided to try again to make some observations at sites closer to our base camp. We initially settled on a different nearby lake, but when it became clear that effective observations could only be made from the center of the lake where the ice thickness was unknown, we decided to fall back on Harding lake, where we had made our first true auroral observations last week. This time however we had our skis, which made the trip to the lakebed substantially smoother. We deployed all three major diagnostics, All Sky, radio, and spectro-binoculars.

While we did observe some aurora, it was fairly quiet and were eventually compromised by cloud cover. Nonetheless aurora is aurora! and we got some good testing in of our newer diagnostic systems.
