Property

MIT’s Property Insurance program covers Institute-owned property, including buildings, furniture, office and lab equipment, library media and collections, and supplies.

The program covers direct physical loss due to accidental damage to covered property caused by fire, water damage, theft, flood, and other natural disasters or perils. Under specific circumstances, when scheduled in advance, revenue-generating operations of the Institute are covered against business income loss due to a covered peril.

This program can, under certain circumstances, provide coverage for property of others that is in the care and control of MIT.

This insurance program does not cover the personal property of faculty, staff, or students.

Details on filing a claim are described here.
