Radiation detection

Real-time

We use liquid scintillation and He3 based neutron detectors as well as different types of gamma detectors.

We can both log, discriminate and visualize detector counts in real time and conduct industry-standard statistical analyses. We typically record the waveform of every pulse we detect and can inspect its shape.

Integrated

We use calibrated CR-39 plates from TASTRAK to detect charged particles and neutrons (through secondary reactions). We use a semi-automated scanning and analysis pipeline. We use a dedicated digital automated optical microscope for full surface scans of etched CR-39 detectors.

Sample surface characterizaton

We can characterize material surfaces using fully automated optical microscopy, SEM/EDS, isotopic ratio analysis (in collaboration with domain experts).

Loading metals with hydrogen isotopes

Sample types

We can gas-load samples of several types:

  • Foils
  • Pressed powder pellets
  • Wires
  • Thin films

Loading characterization

We can characterize the hydrogen loading through changes in:

  • Gas pressure
  • Sample mass
  • Electrical resistance

Chambers

We construct fully instrumented chambers capable of rough vacuum and positive pressure with internal and external computer-controlled heating and pressure gauges, vacuum gauges, thermocouples and RTDs.
