Introduction

MIT FC is a soccer club comprised of MIT undergrads, grad students, postdocs, and alumni. We compete in Bay State Soccer League (BSSL) Division 1. We practice twice a week and play games on the weekends.

Leadership

MIT FC Co-Captain Brandon Rios is a third year grad student in Mechanical Engineering exploring the use of targeted muscle stimulation for disease therapy and regenerative medicine. He completed his Bachelors degree at WashU in St. Louis, where he played Club all four years, reaching the regional playoff tournament each year, and captaining the team his senior year. Brandon’s preferred position is fullback and supports Manchester City and Real Madrid, modeling the likes of Kyle Walker and Dani Carvajal.

MIT FC Co-Captain Carlos Mercado-Lara is an MIT Alumni (C.O. 2022) who completed his degree in Biological Engineering and Management. He has been part of the team for the past 5 years, most notably propelling the team a promotion to 1st division post-pandemic. Carlos’ preferred position is Center Back and supports FC Barcelona, modeling his game on the legendary Carles Puyol.
