MIT SPOCs for Gaza

Making Accessible Education through Small Private Online Courses

Who Are We?

MIT SPOCs for Gaza is a student-led initiative dedicated to providing high-quality educational opportunities for students in Gaza and those displaced from the region. Sponsored by MIT Open Learning, we offer a series of “Small, Private Online Courses” (SPOCs) aimed at making MIT-level education accessible to communities facing challenging circumstances. Our team consists of Arabic-speaking MIT students who volunteer to support these courses by offering online sessions, office hours, and personalized assistance to ensure participants receive the guidance they need for a successful learning experience. Running from October to December, the program provides students with the opportunity to earn MITx certificates, helping them gain valuable credentials to further their academic and professional growth. We believe in the transformative power of education and are committed to empowering students in Gaza with the knowledge, skills, and support to pursue their ambitions, even in the face of adversity.
