Simo Pajovic has been accepted to the summer student program at the Center for Nonlinear Studies at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, and will spend the summer working at LANL on engineering nonreciprocal nanophotonic systems.
A joint STTR project with the Cosmic Shielding Corporation has been awarded a United States Air Force contract to enable in-orbit capabilities using shielded COTS GPUs. Satellite designers have faced restrictions on the types of electronic systems they could safely use since the beginning of the space age. Space radiation has barricaded us from using the newest, most cutting edge computing technologies enjoyed on earth because they are vulnerable to the effects of space radiation.

Elastocaloric fibers featured at MIT Energy Night
Buxuan Li, You Lyu and Duo Xu presented solid-state elastocaloric refrigerator and heat pump materials developed in the META Lab as an efficient and sustainable replacement for the conventional HVAC technology.
Dr. Svetlana Boriskina and her colleagues at the Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico, and the Federal University of Ceara, Brazil, have won a prestigious Global-X Challenge 2023 worldwide competition sponsored by the Office of Naval Research (ONR). The team will work on the development of dual-envelope multi-functional textile for naval operators and vehicles, which combines a passive smart fiber network for thermoregulation, protection, camouflaging, and an active functional fiber network for energy harvesting, health monitoring, and environmental sensing.
