Overview
The Subcommittee on State and Local Affairs is responsible for all matters related to the state and local governments that are relevant to the GSC platform or welfare of MIT graduate students. We actively work with the municipal governments of Cambridge, Somerville, Boston, and the government of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
State and Local Affairs meetings often host local lawmakers to discuss initiatives and graduate student priorities. Recent guests have included Cambridge City Councillor: Jivan Sobrinho-Wheeler, and MA State House Representative for the 26th Middlesex District: Mike Connolly.

- Expanding voter access to non-US citizens in local elections.
- Easing the expiration period on MA driver’s licenses for international students.
