What exactly is Club Golf?
We are a fun group of people who all have a passion for golf, want to improve, and make some new friends along the way. Club Golf at MIT is both a recreational and competitive team. When the weather is nice, we practice and play weekly among ourselves, and every few weeks, we participate in club golf tournaments or “friendlies” with other schools in the Boston area.

What does Club Golf do during winter?
This is an important question. We all know that Boston winters can be unpredictable and are most certainly cold. As a member of the team, you have access to the indoor golf room and Joe during reserved times throughout the week. With these times, we can work on our individual game, and still get together to play a round even when the weather is frigid. We are always getting better. J

I have no experience with golf, but I’m interested in learning. Can I join?
For those with no experience, we are always excited to teach more people the game and will work with you to get you started. If you’re completely unfamiliar with the game, you might want to take the PE golf course offered by MIT (PE.0604).

I don’t have my clubs here. Can I still play?
Yes! It actually can be fairly inexpensive to get your clubs sent here, and we can give you some advice about that. If you’re undecided about getting your clubs sent out, we have some spare clubs that you can use in the meantime.

Where do you practice and play?
Practices are weekday evenings, and we’ll play on the weekends. Since we arrange transportation for all members, you don’t have to worry about how you’ll get to the courses. Most practices are held at McGolf in Dedham, and we generally play out of Fresh Pond Golf Course, only a 15-minute drive from campus. Occasionally, we’ll play at a course other than Fresh Pond.

All this sounds great! But I’ve heard that golf is expensive. Is it expensive to play with the team?
No, it isn’t! The club golf team benefits from many generous donors and, as such, only a small amount of dues each semester gets you many perks. Any golf event hosted by the team is all inclusive – transportation, balls at the driving range, greens fees, etc. are all paid for. Apparel and discounts on equipment are provided as well!
